Meditation On The Japanese Garden (MOJG) is an online journal that publishes diverse materials about the creantion, history and maintenance of Japanese gardens throughout the world. It targets an audience of garden enthusiasts that are also interested in the wider context of Japanese culture.

The journal publishes on a rolling schedule so submissions are always accepted. Our interest is in publishing unique material that makes the Japanese garden accessible to a wider public. Our focus is both on public and private gardens of international acclaim.

We would like to encourage our readers to share their own experience of the Japanese garden. While we do not pay for unsolicited contributions, we accept them in digital formats, including images, video clips and articles of varying length and genre.

For articles and stories we require plain text files (.txt) or Rich Text Format files (.rtf). We encourage embedded links within the text. Simple bibliographies, recommended reading and related links are certainly welcome, but not necessary.
Please include a brief biography with your submissions (along with a photo if you wish).

For digital images we require either RAW format or JPEG files (.jpg) in the original camera resolution. Video material must be submitted in the DV format.

Submission Guidelines

Meditations on the Japanese Garden (MOJG) accepts unsolicited materials from contributors. By submitting materials contributors grant MOJG the nonexclusive worldwide right to publish the work in the print and electronic editions of MOJG (collectively, the “Journal”), as well as certain related rights.

The related rights granted to the Journal include the right to use the work in printed compilations or reproductions of the Journal or portions of the Journal and the right to reproduce or license reproduction of the work in any other form or media that is known now or that may be adopted in the future, as long as such form includes other material from the Journal. The Journal will have the right to translate the work into any foreign language.

Any income from such use belongs to the Journal. Any limitations of these rights must be confirmed in writing with the Journal.

In submitting the work for publication in the Journal, the contributor certifies that it is an original work and does not infringe on the copyright or any other right of any person and that the contributor accepts these terms.

We may edit unsolicited material at our discretion and use only subsets of what is provided. In all cases we will credit the contributor unless instructed not to do so, and inform the contributor of publication of the material. By submitting unsolicited material an individual accepts these submission guidelines.
